Who was your best friend as a child?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 13, 2007:
Me.... As it turns out... As I look back, and I have, I realize that the friends I had were not “best” friends... sad I know, but putting the moniker of "best" is a lot of pressure... and a lot of responsibility.
My best friend in childhood?, the teen years? and in adulthood? I've had them. Sharing all the growing pains and adventures with. Wonderful memories that may fill a loving book in the future. I have old friends and friends I've just met.. :) And they mean the world to me... But 'best"?
Unfortunately, some of them have faded away due to marriage, children, differences, growing apart, growing up...
I love all the people that have made an impression on my life good or not so good... But I wouldn’t label and say that they were the best. I love them all, here or not. We learn from all our friends...
People come and go, life is an open door, it opens and it closes. It’s up to us to understand and accept...
I have a bunch of friends for whom I am grateful to have had in my life, and still know and love, and some I still associate with. But to say best? Well they are all on an equal plane. Some do "friendship" better than others... but that’s just a judgment :)
Being the best YOU can be, makes you a "better" friend in some ways, not necessarily the best. I think you have to love yourself "best" to attract those who will love you "best".

Groovy Gail . . .
You saved the best for last. I’m in agreement 100% with you on this! We attract which we radiate. The vibes we throw out are like a magnet. Needy people attract other needy people. Toxic relationships and all that.
As far as friends is concerned, this is the point in life where collectively, i feel I have the best “group” of friends I’ve ever had. No doubt, that has something to do with me too. I’ve always felt the “best friend” label is overused. Because, they tend to change for many of us.

Very astute!
I especially value the 'magnetic' info. It is such an important piece of understanding.
And, by extension, the needy people…they will draw other needy people to be in relationship with…but relationship is one of the best ways of growing out of neediness and toxicity. Seeing ourselves in the other - if we can get any clarity about it at all - can create the potential for our own change…and we can only change ourselves.
yes!! exactly! I just said to a friend the other day who was saying how lucky she was to have such great and amazing and generous friends that she has such great friends because she IS such a great friend.
gandhi– BE the change you wish to see in the world. yep. :-)
Oh yeah. Nice offering here. I know the me, for sure. :)
How true!!! We'd all better learn to be our own best friend …
