This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 21, 2007:

This is a loaded question... wanna hear it here it goes...
My last name is really Olivier, but a teacher my dad had when he was young and fresh off the boat (from Louisiana) so to speak, decided that he didn’t and shouldn’t have a beautiful name like that... thus drop an “i” and be more acceptable as a black man...

My mom was in a social club, 3 of her friends were pregnant at the same time, they went off to have their babies, came back to the mix... and we were all named Gail. Don’t know why... but we 3 Gail's, Gayle's are still friends to this day... pretty amazing now-a-days.

AKA “The G-Force” (we) have a sister bond that cannot be broken ( as an only child... that is important to me).

My middle name (which will remain undisclosed) spans 3 generations (grandma, mom and me), and one day I will appreciate it... and use it.

And to think at 7 years old, I wanted to change my name to Linda to be more ordinary (couldn't be Groovy Gail if they (mommie & daddy) let me have my way)....
I love my name... guess I really don't know any better.  :)
What’s in a name?
Me and a great history!  at least, so far...

Great story, Groovy Gail (Urban Shaman) - and after hearing about you three gals being named Gail, more than ever, i've stopped believing in something called coincidence. There is a design!   :-)  Thanks for sharing this.

Very cool, Groovester.  And sweet to see Praveer here.

Naming is so important.  “Here is fire in the sky,” or, “Here is dim little candle.”  And boys named sue.  My dad was in utero the year that Max Baer was up against Primo Carnera (1934).  Family lore says Dad's dad wanted to name him (if he was a boy) after the winner.

Not sure if Grandmama Eaton would have wanted a daughter named Primo.  :)

What a great story Groovy G!

And your sisterly trio of alternative Gail spelled names is a club of fun!

Sending a hug and a stretch!!
