What are your plans for the New Year?

Posted on Dec 20th, 2007 by spirit in action : creative spirit spirit in action
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 20, 2007:

i have had a new year’s eve ritual since ‘84... i take a nice lunch... and go to a place in nature, away from the city... the beach or the mountains (the caves at corral canyon are out due to fire) with my journal. i read my journal and see how many of my intentions i accomplished, my growth,  the new people in my life, the one's that made their exits, the opportunities i acted on and give thanks and gratitude for the things i’ve done this year... and let it go. then i meditate for a while... on intentions for the new year and then write them down. i usually spend the day out communing with nature and spirit, walkin around, observing, creating and breathing. after that, i usually go home, make something great for dinner and pop a cork and chill... partying all night lost it’s attraction a while ago... i’d rather be home when the crazies go crazy  :-)

new year’s day is usually spent with my extended family(40+)... watching football all day...
rose bowl (usc bay-bee), lots of laughing and hugging, eating too much good food that is waaay off my diet (my family is from louisiana), some bubbly, and in general bringing the new year in with a lot of love with those i love.

Laissez le bon rouleau de temps!
(I THINK? i'm from cali.... but you get the gist)

Yes…it sounds wonderful and I hope you don't mind if we borrow it!  I love the review of the past using your journal and the the conscious process of setting intentions for the coming year by meditating.

And your New Year's Day sounds great!!

Come on out T…

Actually, I did something cooler… I went to the beach, it was 78º… :-) I wrote down all the things I wanted to leave behind in 2007… and burned the list, then let the negative stuff blow away… then I made my intentions list for 2008 and as I read each one, I threw white flowers into the ocean as a gift to Yemanya (the Brazilian Goddess of Wishes coming true)… It was a very peaceful and restorative experience… and a great way to start the year…
of course later, I had my bubbley  :-)  (some things don't change)

Wow, that sounds so awesome and meaningful!

Okay, I'm there in 2009!

I'll bring the bubbly and flowers, if you bring Yemanya and the good weather!  :)
